Program note:
As the title says, this piece consists of clouds and shadows.
20 sound clouds, in time between 1½ second to ca. 10 seconds long, is spread out; each one with a shadow in-between. These sound clouds has a harmonic material that goes in a circular form, that is, the last cloud has the same material as the first one.
The material undergoes a intervallic transposition according to a pre-defined pattern and each new material also gets a new range, creating clearly perceptive differences.
Each cloud also belongs to one of five different pattern categories that affects the focus of the cloud. An example of such a category is a clearly melodic line unlike those who only have a harmonic focus.
CLOUDS & SHADOWS is composed with a rather strict system where time aspect, the form is intimately associated with both the internal rhythmic structure in the sound clouds and the harmonic/melodic material.
