Program note:
Here the basis is the forth part of the Mithras material which is presented in the exposition of the piece.
After this each character is presented and developed organically until the next one takes over, i.e. an evolution.
This becomes, so to speak, my proposition to what each character can be developed into.
The piece ends with a recapitulation (slightly modified) of the opening. This also ends the whole cycle Mithras.
Comment:
MITHRAS
The cycle Mithras was composed 2005 – 2006 and consists of 4 different pieces, Stadium, Explosion, Transformation and Evolution.
The cycle is based on a 40 seconds long four part musical material consisting of distinct characters [gestalt]. These are, for example, glissando, chromatic scale, and arpeggio. These characters always appear in new contexts, they are expanded, contracted, both vertically and horizontally, i.e. Mithras is
not a variation form because all characters always remain them selves. Each piece has one of the four parts as a focus and basis that determines the length, form, dynamics etc.
